5th Green Corps
< My Story by Do-kyung Kim > |
| I always had a longing for distant and exotic places. As soon as I entered university, I anticipated in taking part in an NGO which aims to improve appreciation of Korea-China cultures. First, I had no foreground knowledge on China. I plainly hoped to see the world through such experiences. However my simple thoughts dramatically changed after I met various people and experienced the different culture. As a staff and as a head of East Asia team, I enjoyed my duties very much. | ![]() |
I learned two other things during the Green Corps activities. One is passion. Staff members I met at ?Future Forest? had such different interests and characters that were very inspiring and helpful to me in the course of pursuing my career. The other is the necessity to know more about Asia. What shocked me most was my lack of knowledge and interest towards my neighboring country. I came to realize that we as Asians should stand as genuine friends. The green trees that were planted in the desert by us, the Green Corps, symbolized the power of international aid and attention based on friendship.
The world is out there. As a global citizen, I am very grateful to ?Future Forest? for giving me such an unforgettable memory and inspiration!
